I was FLOORED! And confused from fever. I was apologizing, and offering to be in their office in 10 min, explaining we had all intentions of being there I got the time wrong, my husband was home to bring them, and I was being talked to like a criminal! All while being sicker than I have been in years.
I know I didn't dream that they said it would be complimentary.
Great experience at Elko Dental Specialists from staff and especially Dr. Gladwell, who made a tooth extraction so quick and painless it was easier than having a filling done. It was a friendly, fun and helpful visit.
I see Dr. Gardner and love him, and his staff. I decided to take my kids to Dr. Sorensen, the pediatric dentist in the office so we could all be seen in the same place. He was great! Unfortunately, I had an issue his office staff (person in charge of financial) treating me like scheduling an extraction was comparable to buying a car. I had to put down a payment that was more than my insurance deductible for dental for the entire year. When I asked, I was told my insurance didn't cover their office, when in fact it did. When I asked again about the $170.00 for 1 pediatric extraction not being covered, I was told I had to pay (100.00 upfront just to hold the appointment) being covered by my $50 deductible I was told it was because they use laughing gas? Anyway, I paid, even though I was getting frustrated. Well, then, we missed our appointment time, because of family illness. I was very sick and told my husband the wrong time to bring in my daughters. He actually took the day off work for the sole purpose of taking them to the extraction we waited 3 weeks for. It was no fault of their office. When I tried to explain the situation, the same day of the appointment, just 30 min past the appointment time, and admit it was my fault, I was berated by the girl responsible for pediatric "financials"
Anyway, the front desk was completely overwhelmed by patients by the time I got back to it, discussing the price and billing of the procedure was nearly impossible. I took the estimate and left without scheduling and decided to think on it and maybe talk to a couple more oral surgeons.
My 8 year old daughter frequently goes here and they have always been great with her. Just recently she had braces put on and the dental assistant, Jenna was hands down amazing with her!! My daughter was terrified and worried about the whole procedure and she just calmed her down and went out of her way to make her feel comfortable by talking her through the entire procedure and assuring her she was going to be okay. Later that same night Dr. Gardner also called himself to check up on her! I am very pleased with all of the staff from the gals up front to the dentist himself :-).
I was told the consultation was complimentary at the front desk. The staff was nice and knowledgeable, but extremely distracted in all areas, the surgeon was not especially gentle during the exam. I was kind of being hard sold into having mole removal done in addition to the oral surgery which I found kind of "off" and while they wanted me to commit to it, no one would tell me how much it would cost.
Anyway, it's not getting better from here.
My son and I had our braces and follow up visits with Dr. Gardner. It was hardship for me from the very first visit. They forgot I was in the chair for a good while but were very apologetic. Treatment from his staff was great except in the beginning when both my son and I would have to wait for the assistant to start and stop working on us to finish telling her personal life story. But...still ok. When it got ruff was when appointments kept getting changed from his "financial manager" (at the time) and then when we would show up it would be a different day all together even after several calls confirming date and time. Then when all was said and done with me they took impressions for my retainer. They said they would call me. I waited for about a month and realized they hadn't called. So I call and they had a different phone number. Mind you every time I went in I was asked if my address and Phone number was the same(they would even state the actual address and phone #). So when I went it my teeth had moved, they took another impression and I waited again for about 2 weeks going on to 3 and the excuse was the same, wrong phone #. When I finally got it my teeth had moved yet again so the assistant forced them on and called it good. At this point I was done! My son, on the other had was treated very well, again all assistants were very nice. He was all done, got his impressions and same situation happened. They were forced on so we never put them on. His teeth still look great though. When my daughter needed to get braces I did some searching and questioning on Dr. Gardner's staff and there had been some changes so I decided to try them again for her. Completely different from the start. We have been treated very well!!!! and I really appreciate that. From front office staff to the assistants in the back. THANK YOU!!!!!!
Today I got another statement, same billing office, still the wrong name, now for $140 but my insurance paid all but $68 and change.
Then they said there was no way I could have gotten a statement. Ugh, well, I have it.
I'm going to just pay my balance and go elsewhere.
Well I got a bill for $250 dollars addressed to my husband's first name and my last name (?) and when I called and asked them why the sent me a $250 bill for a complimentary consult, they stated that they never told me it would be complimentary, that was only for patients of Dr. Gardener.
I was so dumbfounded. All of this coming from the office staff who rescheduled ME when the dentist had a family emergency an hour before my kids appointment 2 weeks before this, Which is why it took so long for us to get in. Apparantly there, if YOU have anything going on, and make a mistake, they tell you you have to pay another $100 to make up for the appointment you missed! Ridiculous. I had my kids pulled from their schedule immediately. I still see Dr. Gardner, because I have zero issue with his staff, and I will have my kiddos braces done here, but take my kids to Family Dental in Spring Creek for Pediatric Dentistry, and they are amazing! I couldn't stomach the person in the office at Family Dental Specialists working for Dr. Sorensen and she lost our family's business for the Dentist. At Family Dental in SC, Extraction, no problem, no crazy fees or payments up front, got in in 1 week, and the Dentist, and assistants are amazing with my kids.
***UPDATE 10/3/17- The Doctor called me personally to apologize. He thanked me for letting them know through this review (which is awesome that they read them and care!) They said made sure the problem was fixed! I was extremely impressed! Really do love this office!
I was refered to Elko Dental Specialists by another dentist to have my wisdom teeth taken out.
I was told that we couldn't come in that day anymore because we were 30 min late because people who "scheduled their appointments decided to make it on time" (oh yes, that was verbatim) when I apologized and told her I was very ill, she replied with "ma'am I confirmed your appointment yesterday, you said you would be here. If you want to reschedule, I will need to take another $100 payment"
